Sherri's Letter to John Almond
Sherri's Letter to John Almond

Hello John,
Thank you for speaking at length with me last week. I remain perturbed by the apparent willingness to rubber stamp or overlook Toronto Hydro's rather dubious activities related to the various locations of the construction platform for the anemometer off the Bluffs. At no point did I hear you indicate that you were considering the various points made by citizens or myself, and it felt very much as though you were "following orders," sorry to say.
This is not a time in Ontario's history when we can follow: it is a time for leadership and extreme protection of our natural resources. MNR is not in our view a facilitator for business. It should afford itself of useful best practices with respect to nature and man made activities relating to "commerce." Wind turbines are not "best practices" in any sense of the word, and it is most dismaying that your office, like the office that is designing policy to protect Ontario's bats, does not apparently have access to the most recent advice of experts to guide your decisions.
We would like you to know that we will hold you, Chris Hislop, the Minister, and all other Ministers, including the City, the Mayor and our Councillors, and the Premier responsible for the sure degradation of nature, the rotting hulks of turbines in 10-15 years in the water, any ill health of residents, the potential suicides and depression that may result, loss of property values, and any other very real issues such as water contamination. You are, I am sure, aware of the Harris Water Treatment centre just perilously close to this Bluffs area.
As to the question of whether Toronto Hydro has once more been unacceptably inaccurate in its estimation of how far off the present location is from the permit obtained position, or if they are in the same grid box, we shall see.
Voting day is coming!
Yours sincerely,
Sherri Lange
