Toronto Hydro Energy Services Anemometer

Mr Almond,

We've watched the government ignore the process throughout the approval stage repeatedly but in August 2009 we were at least assured by Minister Gerretsen that Toronto Hydro's failure to comply with their faulty document (a process and application which Toronto Hydro Energy Services legal counsel did not dispute to being called illegal repeatedly in written communication) would result in charges under the EAA.

It now seems you are preparing to assist Toronto Hydro in papering over it's violation of the PER and therefore the Minister's order.

Why are you attempting to assist Toronto Hydro in violating the PER as set out by the Minister of the Environment?

They lied repeatedly to the ministry and residents. They acted outside of the PER without permission. You should be outraged, not enabling their violation of the PER and ignoring of Minister Gerretsen's order.

Residents are sick of your ministry and government playing by whatever rules Toronto Hydro asks you to. Stop allowing Toronto Hydro to violate what little law is left relating to the installation of this anemometer and know that there are thousands who are watching for what you do as an individual, holding our community's fate in the balance.

We won't back down and any involvement by you in Toronto Hydro's unique legal interpretations will not go unresponded to.

No option that does not involve community participation and a commitment to Ontario's law is acceptable. Why it seems to be to you is both disheartening and frightening.

You have been entrusted by the Province of Ontario to manage a very important public resource, not run defence for a fatally flawed proponent.

Do the right thing, follow the law, protect what's left of the process and leave excuse making for illegal activity to Toronto Hydro.

We will be watching your actions and you have my pledge to ensure you are held personally responsible for any involvement you have in attempting to cover up Toronto Hydro's violation of the PER and protect them from charges they deserve.

I expect a full response from you by April 16th outlining your proposal for ensuring Toronto Hydro's violation of the PER results in charges and a cancellation of the current land use permit.

Sincerely,

John Laforet
