Please write letters or faxes to the following people with your objections to the proposed anemometer (wind testing device) and the mega Turbine Industrial application (they are really both part of the same concept), and copy us! Letters should be in your own words, expressing your personal concerns, and requesting the entire project be aborted. One page is often the best!

The Scarborough Bluffs belongs to all of Toronto, all of Ontario. It does not matter if you live downtown, or in Prince Edward County, or in the Kawarthas. The Bluffs is a natural wonder, an ecological treasure, and the waters of Lake Ontario belong to us all! It is after all, part of the miracle of the fresh water supply in the Great Lakes, 20% of the entire supply on the planet. It must be protected for future generations!

Toronto Wind Action opposes

huge industrial turbines at the Scarborough Bluffs because:

1. fiscally irresponsible; cannot survive without huge subsidies
2. is not green and does not support “green” jobs
3. no where in the world is anyone putting turbines in fresh water supplies
4. affects property values/cultural and historic values/community values/aesthetic values that are universal
5. we have not yet had a proper democratic community consultation
6. clear evidence of possible negative effects on human health, especially children, the elderly, those with cardiac problems, those with immune deficiencies, those with depression
7. clear evidence that birds, bats, butterflies will be affected adversely
8. clear evidence that there will be environmental damage (connecting to the grid, electro-magnetic and electrical cables will affect the lake bed and aquatic life)
